The apparel and textile\nindustry has grown and\nmatured a lot over the last\nfew years – from an unorganized\nto an organized sector. However,\nthis in turn has increased the\nneed for constant improvement\nand upgradation of knowledge\nand skills. Keeping this in mind,\nvarious companies and\nconsulting agencies are these\ndays conducting regular\nworkshops and training\nsessions and are trying their\nbest to contribute to the growth\nof industry. Third Eyesight, a\nDelhi-based consulting firm, is\nfollowing the same track and\nhas taken the job of organizing a\nseries of workshops related to\nthe industry. The firm recently\npresented its first series of\nindustry-focused workshops\nand seminars under the tag\nname Third Eyesight\nKnowledge Series@ on Textile\nFacts &Fabric Sourcing.\nThe Third Eyesight Knowledge\nSeries@ comprises several\nworkshops, designed and\ndeveloped to help functiona heads, line managers and\nexecutives, who upgrade\nthemselves and attain product\nexpertise. Moreover, the\nworkshops have been designed\nas an integrated series where\neach module is complete and\nself-contained that allows\nparticipants the flexibility to\nattend either complete series or\nselect independent modules\naccording to their requirements.\nThe first part of series that was\nheld in Delhi focused on\nclothing, textile and fashion\nindustry. objective of the event was to\nimpart information about fabrics\nthat are usually used by the\napparel industry; identify the\nsources of these fabrics in the\ndomestic and international\nsource markets; understand\ncosting of textiles ba1>edon the\nvalue addition and finishing\nprocesses carried out on them\nand acknowledged participants\nabout end uses of textiles.
\nSharmila Katre, Consultant at\nThird Eyesight, has been\nassociated with the Clothing\nand Textile Industry for the last\n28 years, conducting\nprogrammes and enlightening\nthe participants about the facets\nof this industry. She has been teaching the subject at\nvarious fashion institutes\nincluding the NIFT,Pearl\nAcademy and the Institute of\nHome Economics in Delhi.
Professionals from different\nbrands, retail business and\nthose engaged in design and\nproduct development\nparticipated at the event and\nappreciated the content of the\nworkshop and the way concepts\nwere presented. They felt that\ntopics were very current and\nrelevant to their requirements.\nMany mentioned that the\nworkshop helped them in\nacquiring understanding of the\nbasic and primary raw\nmaterial, and resource of the\nbusiness in their own company.\nParticipants liked the one-on\u0002one interaction sessions\nbetween the workshops as they\nrealized that many problems\nfaced by them were common\nacross the industry and were\nable to share opinions and\nsuggested solutions.
